Study On Differentiation Within Intellectual Class

Since sociology was recovered in 1987, study on social differentiation has always been an important study field in sociology. With the constant deepening of reform and opening, study on the theory of social stratification is becoming more and more thorough in the course of modernization. The study on social stratification can objectively describe the basic structure of social members, reveal the system of social material distribution, and judge the value of social class structure. The reason for social class differentiation can also be found out through the study on social class, which could be the theoretical basis for governmental decision-making departments.Before reform and opening, intellectuals were the group pushed out and even denied due to various historical reasons; after reform and opening, with the adjustment of national development policies and the arrival of knowledge economy, intellectuals are on the way to change from intellectuals from various classes to an independent intellectual class. However, the members of intellectual class are from other social class actually, so the class structure is relatively complex. In the new age to build China into a moderately prosperous society in all-round way, with the constant deepening of reform and opening, before reform and opening the fixed social structure made up of leader, workers and farmers in China was changing. Instead, there was diversified and open social class structure in which new social classes were emerging, the inner differentiation of each class was intensified, and there was differentiation within intellectual class.The writer read the relevant literature materials extensively, paid attention to related academic trends and adopted methods such as comparative study and inductive reasoning to study the social differentiation of intellectual class in four parts. Party one is about social stratification, mainly including the related concepts about social differentiation and social stratification, main significance of development and study on social stratification theory, and some standards for social stratification. Part two at first discusses about the social status of intellectuals in-different historical period, from being denied before Cultural Revolution to being affirmed after reform and opening. Then it discusses about the development characteristics of Chinese intellectual class. Part three is based on Chinese intellectual class structure( mainly made up of seven groups including expect intellectuals, civil servant intellectuals, manager intellectuals, owner intellectuals, agency intellectuals, professional intellectuals, self-employed intellectuals) and analyzes the status of inner class differentiation and causes for class differentiation in the aspect of index of occupational credit, index of power, income index, ect.
