Nowadays, China is at the stage of social transfer, all kinds of social contradictions emerge, many factors that place a premium on crime increase, the rate of crime continually rises, so that more and more persons are put into prison. Because men have still been the main body in the field of crime, this study invested male prisoners as subjects in order to explore the relationship between self-esteem, social support and coping style for giving some advice to prisons in managing and reeducating them.About 446 male prisoners took part in the study,and the crime types included violence, drug trafficking, economic crime. By using the Self-esteem Scale, social support inventory and Carver's coping inventory, we examined the male prisoners'self-esteem, social support and coping style they had confronted after being thrown into prison. The main results of this study are as follows:First, male prisoners'social support is positively relative to their self-esteem(p<0.01), and subjective support can predict self-esteem.Second, male prisoners'social support is positively relative to their coping style(p<0.05), and objective support could predict coping style.Third, male prisoners'self-esteem is negatively relative to their coping style(p<0.05), and self-esteem could predict coping style.Finally, there is significant age difference in social support, subjective support and using of support(p<0.05), there is significant schooling difference in social support and using of suppor(tp<0.05), and there is significant address difference in subjective support (p<0.05). There are significant schooling differenc(ep<0.05), crime type difference and term of imprisonment difference in coping style(p<0.01).There are significant schooling difference and address difference in active coping style(p<0.05).
