To possess a good moral character is fundamental to a person. As the future of the mother country, youngsters are at a stage when their morals form, which are crucial for their whole life. Family is the first school for children to learn their behavior and it is also the most important place to shape their personality. As a result of this, family education is the primary channel to socialize the individual's moral, and the parents are the first teachers to lead their children to a good personality. With the development of the reform and opening-up, the whole society has been experiencing a profound change. During this process of rapid change Chinese families, especially city families are unavoidably involved and shocked by the negative side of the market economy. Thus family moral education in the city is inevitably under a transformation from the traditional to the modern stage, which brings some problems and puzzles to the project of the adolescent moral education.This dissertation investigates the new issues of the adolescent moral education in the urban families at the current stage and seeks the corresponding solutions to them. It begins from the analysis of the current status of adolescent moral education both at home and abroad, and based on this the dissertation develops its core.Part I deals with the necessity and the practicability of enforcing family moral education for the youth in the urban area. Noting the ethical awareness that there is a conflict of choice in confusion acted by adolescent, the dissertation demonstrates that while school moral education are at current not so effective, family, as the base for moral education, does not respond as it should have. The dissertation argues that family moral education has a great advantage. Enforcing family moral education is both urgent and feasible.Part II discusses the problems of the current urban family moral education. It concerns that at the face of the rapid change of the society, it is inevitable that the idea, the content and the process be disharmonious to some extent with the epoch, which must be dealt with seriously.Part III investigates the cause of the problems of the urban family moral education. The dissertation holds that there are several causes for the above problems: the unsuitable for the environment of the family moral education, the convergence between the family and the social and school moral education.Part IV talks about the solutions to the problems and the measures to enforce the family moral education. The dissertation will mainly deal with the solutions from the points of the social environment, the education reform, the family environment and the education approach, after the analysis of which it argues that at this new epoch we should enforce the development of the sources of the family moral education and activate the educators in the family to fully use its sources.
