With the rapid development of global economy, communications between countries become more and more frequent. For various reasons, people acquire a second nationality voluntarily or involuntarily. It can be said that dual or multiple nationality has become universal phenomenon in modern society. However, how to exercise diplomatic protection towards dual nationals is a tough problem in the international practice. Therefore, studying the diplomatic protection system of dual nationals appears to be particularly important. My essay has three parts. The first part is to summarize diplomatic protection towards dual nationals, introducing the referent concepts of diplomatic protection and dual nationality and putting forward the legal basis for diplomatic protection towards dual nationals and the significance of studying it The second part is to introduce and analyze two main situations by commenting the international practices and the provisions of ILC Draft Articles on Diplomatic Protection 2006 .The third part is to make proposals for china, China should first recognize dual nationality limitedly, then establish the diplomatic protection system of dual nationals, and gradually perfect the system by making laws, in order to protect the interests of Chinese abroad well.
