The Study Of Regional Integration Movement Of ASEAN After The Cold War

ASEAN is one of the best recent regional integration campaigns. Meanwhile, the relations between ASEAN and China becomes getting better, especially the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area accelerates it's process. ASEAN becomes China's another important diplomatic partner. At the time of setting up for 40 years of ASEAN, this thesis tries to analyze and make an inquiry into the integration of ASEAN by the light of neo-functionalism.This thesis contains 4 parts: the first part analyses the definition of integration and has an explanation of the theoretical elements of neo-functionalism; the second part mainly traces back the development process of ASEAN, and divides it into two stages, including the stage of cold war and post-cold war. The third one decodes the integration of ASEAN through the neo-functionalism, analyzing the spill-over effect of ASEAN and the institutionalism of ASEAN. The last part makes a comparison of ASEAN and Europe Union and concludes the crucial points of the integrational development of ASEAN. In the end, a conclusion is made that the integration of ASEAN is a long time process. It has special development characteristic and inhibiting factors. Therefore, when ASEAN has made lots of achievements, we should keep mind clearly that the development of ASEAN can't go smoothly, it will counter different kinds of difficulties; However, the development of ASEAN can't spill-back, for the enforcement of the collective recognition of ASEAN becomes unarguable facts.
