As a special and also a necessary mean in education, punishment plays a role in correcting the wrongdoings of students in the teaching activities. A reasonable punishment can not only make students known exactly about their incorrect deeds, help the punished students rehabilitate and grow healthily; but also make other students inspired and educated from it. It is conducive to students'social development and can ensure the teaching activities launched normally, which has a very strong informative function. However, there are also some inappropriate punishment behaviors in the actual teaching practices.Some teachers do not have a clear understanding of the punishment connotation and the educational function in it. They either do not take care of the faults of the students, or use the punishment in false, which both bring a bad consequence, that is, not only fails to make the students understand their bad behavior, but also leads to students'antagonistic psychological to teachers.It affects physical and mental development of the students as well as hinders their social development. This paper tries to base on the actual teaching activities, to investigate the phenomenon of misconduct penalty in the school education, set out the existence of improper punishment of the reality of the phenomenon of state, and to analyze the reasons for its existence, and then provide some suggestions on how to avoid undue punishment for teachers.Around this theme, this paper will expound from the following aspects:In the first part of the paper, the concept of undue punishment and its characteristics are discussed, it points out that the undue punishment means unreasonable educational punishment, which violates the law, ethics or the rules of education, as well as the education aims, and produces serious negative impacts to the students.The characteristic of improper punishment are:â‘ contrary to the purpose of education;â‘¡inconsistent with the laws of physical and mental development;â‘¢violation of the requirements of the law;â‘£breach of social morality.In the second part of the paper, it makes out the actual state of the improper punishment through the issuance of questionnaires and observation methods to the classroom scene, and the results are analyzed:â‘ improper punishment lack of informative;â‘¡injurious of the punishment manners;â‘¢situational of the improper punishment;â‘£deficient in communication after punished. The third part of the paper discusses the harms of the inappropriate punishment to students.It mainly means physical harms which affect students'psychological health and deprive their relationship with others.The fourth part of the paper analyzes the reason of the existence of the improper punishment. Mainly analyzed from the following aspects:â‘ the reasons of conceptual field;â‘¡the reasons of psychology;â‘¢the reasons of system.The fifth part of the paper expounds the strategies which the teachers, schools, society should be taken according to the above reasons of the existence of the improper punishment discussed in the fourth part.
