Study Of Teaching Professional Standards For Early Childhood Teachers In America

As more and more attention has been paid to the quality of teachers in early childhood settings, the development of professional standards for early childhood teachers is becoming a common choice of different countries. Under the influence of the standards campaign, China is working on the study of comparing the typical standards of foreign countries and has finished the framework of her own teaching professional standards. As a part of them, standards for early childhood teachers has also been drawn up recently and gained a lot of attention from all fields in China.A text comprehension of standards for different periods of early childhood teachers of USA has been included in this thesis, based on literature search and comparative study. In view of these studies, an analysis of the framing, implementing and assessing process of China's efforts has been brought forth and some advice has been presented to improve the native practice, including conclusions of framing, implementing and assessing of standards of America; three recommendations are made to promote the professional development of early childhood teachers of China.This thesis has 5 parts:1. rationale of the reasons and meaning of this study; 2. review of the studies of early childhood teachers'teaching standards both in and out of China; 3. research about the making and developing of American standards for early childhood teachers and text interpretation of three main standards for early childhood teachers of America; 4. discussion on what China could learn from the inspiration of American practices and,5.advice for teaching professional development of China based on standards research.
