With the development of the society, and global integration, English is becoming more and more important. Listening teaching is an important part in high school. It affects and influences all people, for one thing they must have a good communication ability as English is an international language, and on the other hand they need to pass the National Entrance Examination. As one of the four basic language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing, however, listening its significance and value are more obvious.Meanwhile, the current situation of English listening teaching in high school is not satisfactory. People have paid wide attention to it since 2001, when listening was regarded as an important part of the National Entrance Examination. The listening teaching is still conducted in a traditional way, and there aren't effective methods in both learning and teaching, so many students have poor achievements in listening tests.This paper is divided into four sections. The first part is the importance significance and characteristics of English listening teaching in high school. The second part is about the situation and countermeasures of English listening teaching in high school, including the current problems in listening teaching and reform of listening teaching. Such as teachers attach so much importance to examination-oriented education and also have poor theoretical basis and implementation strategies of English listening teaching. The third part talked about some factors and problems that influence students' listening. In order to solve the problems, in the following chapter, the author mainly focuses on the fourth part is about the listening strategy training of teachers and students in English listening teaching, and the analysis of how to improve students'listening ability in English listening class under the new teaching conditions. Generally speaking, this article in order to enhance understanding of listening teaching and improve the quality of listening teaching, the article explores the theoretical basis and implementation strategies of English listening teaching in high school, analyzes the situation of English listening teaching in high school, and puts forward feasible methods and measures.
