With the development of our society, all sorts of multimedia, the Internet and other high-tech products has been appeared, all kinds of images, symbols have also been emerged in our daily life, they just like a double-edged sword, giving children so many knowledge to expand their horizon,but they also bring children bad effects. The children express some psychological behaviors that they are not consistent with their age especially among the high school students at present. Although the psychology of high school students has already been mature but not perfect, and they have their own ideas to analyze the things, but their views are still not mature and they are often influenced by external factors. Therefore, it's very necessary to understand these images by critically eyes. So we need to give the visual literacy education for high school students. It's also necessary to teach the students how to watch images, and make a correct value judgment for the images.By means of consulting a large number of data, I find out that there is no unified regulation about the definition of visual literacy. According to analyzing the definition of visual literacy put forward by some scholars, I think visual literacy is an ability to "see", they can obtain "understanding", "utilization", "creation "and then give aesthetic judgments for art. This inborn ability can be acquired through training and has been continuously strengthened.According to cultivating visual literacy for students by high school art appreciation and making use of the favorable factors of teaching art appreciation of visual literacy culture, visual literacy training can proceed smoothly. The favorable factors include:the characteristic of senior middle School students; the characteristic of Art appreciation class. By analyzing these characteristics, thus it can make visual literacy training proceed smoothly.In the teaching of art appreciation, the students can improve their aesthetic ability and form the aesthetic standard towards the feeling, knowledge, evaluation, and judgment for the classical art works. In the teaching, the teacher gives the methods to watch art works by many views, makes the students learn how to find the detail of the images, and how to analyze the images. The students learn the reading skills, so as to achieve to comprehend the works. In order to learn to show their own ideas and understand things for students, teachers should pay attention to cultivate the students the skills of using images. By drawing up the theme, the students make courseware under the guidance of teachers, and learn to use images reasonably, thus it can form their own views on things distinctively. In addition, in the teaching of art appreciation, teachers should combine arts creation with art appreciation, and enhance the ability to make and analyze images for the students.According to cultivating visual literacy for students by high school art appreciation teaching, the students has learned to analyze excellent art works and screen visual information. So they can critically watch and analyze the images. In addition, let students understand the visual presentation and comprehend the intention of the outstanding arts masters, which can provide reference for students to create images. At the same time, in appreciation of the use of network teaching, and the unity of teaching advantages to the way of developing students' ability to use images. Through this a series of way to make students to express themselves through the image smooth thoughts and feelings.
