Comparison On Defense Tragedies Between Chinese And The Other Top Eight Basketball Teams In The 27～(th) Olympic Games

Being bad in defense is one of the main reasons for Chinese Men's Basketball Team's defeat in the 27th Olympic Games. There are six matches for top eight as well as five matches for Chinese team, take the 11 matches as my research object, make research on their defenses tragedies and try to find out the gap between Chinese team and world tops, and provide some reference for Chinese team's future training and competitions. Documentary, experts interview, questionnaire, video watching, data statistical methods are adopted. And the folio wings are the results:1. World tops embodied the principle of "Take ball as the central, focus on players, ball, area and board at the same time' well in their defense tragedies, showed great aggressiveness. There are various of tragedies in their defense system, one or two ones are their key means and the most aggressive one has been used as the weapon to confirm and turn the matches.2. The main defense tragedy is man-to-man. The champion team, USA, even enriched this tragedy and caused great troubles in full court for its opponents. The other Top eight adopted man-to-man and enlarged their half courts. French, Russian and Lithuanian adopted zone-defense, aiming at "get the ball" in all their matches.3. Main defense tragedies for Chinese team is to shorten man-to-man at half court, and Chinese is the team who adopted zone-defense most. To the successful rates, distance exists between Chinese and world tops in their defense tragedies, especially in defending shot and rebounds.4. American players had top speed, divided their work clearly in defense and are good at fast break, can prevent opponent's fast break successfully. While Chinese players are slow, lack of good division and poor in defense, So we are worse in defense when comparing with world tops.5.
