As authority in education, teacher's authority is principal embodiment of school's teaching authority. Authoritative teacher has such enormous impact to students that students trust and obey with him very much.Now, teacher's authority is faced with many challenges as: (1) development of the network and information technique; (2) pluralism in values; (3) reform of education; (4) some teachers' improper behaviors. So teacher's authority became more and more unimportant gradually in practical education course. But we can't draw the conclusion that modern education doesn't need teacher's authority from the trend that teacher's authority is weakened. On the contrary, the form of school organization and the special nature of teacher's labor decide that teacher's authority is necessary. Moreover, as an objective requirement of conducting education in order, teacher's authority is a reasonable exist to students' sound growth and teacher's self - improvement as well.Now that teacher's authority is faced with many challenges, we should interpret it again and give it new meaning. Modern teacher's authority is democratic, rational and open, and is based essentially on teacher's personal charm.How to establish teacher's authority? It needs objective social system and social culture to support. But it counts on teachers themselves. Teachers must not only set modern education idea in time, but also better the quality of themselves and increase their charm continually. Only do so, teachers can give play to their influence in education.
