The study was undertaken to find out the mediation of English teachers in English teaching. Mediation of teachers has played a central role in English learning.The research questions to be addressed in the study are the followings:1) .What is mediation?2). What are key features of mediation?3) How is mediation theory applied to some language teaching activities?My study employs the design of a survey study. The subjects involved are 30 teachers in my school.In my thesis I have discussed the role of the teacher, the mediation of English teachers in English learning. Teachers not only need to consider ways in which teachers seek to make sense of the learning process and their beliefs about learning and learners that will have a profound influence on their teaching, but also need to understand the many different ways in which their words and actions can influence the learning that occurs in their classrooms. Teachers can affect learning in a range of ways that go far beyond the transmission of knowledge. Some of these ways would be likely to include teaching learners how to learn, boosting their confidence, motivating displaying a personal interest, enhancing self-esteem and organising an appropriate learning environment.The thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter One: An introduction gives a brief account of the background of the researches concerning with mediation. It also gives a very short description of the literatures published in this field. In the end the author points out the necessity and validity of carrying out this present study.Chapter Two:The author provides a detailed discussion about teachers' belief., beliefs about learners and learning.Chapter Three:The author gives a detailed description of Fuerstein's theory of mediation and key features of mediation.Chapter Four: In this part the author focuses on the present study. The author provides a detailed discussion about application of mediation theory in some language teaching activities. He introduces the study subjects, the study method, the data collecting, the study procedure, the results of the study and the analysis of the results.Chapter Five: Conclude the whole paper and give some advice for the pedagogy and the future research in this field.
