Confronted with globalization, the challenge of knowledge economy and the overall national power competitiveness in the 21st century, countries worldwide are paying more attention to the efficacy of talent cultivation in higher education. Although much achievement have been made in Chinese talent cultivation in higher education in recent years, there are still some deficiencies to be improved. To overcome them needs learning from other countries.Oxford University, a well-known world-class university, has been paying special efforts to talent cultivation in the course of 800 years development. In its development, it has formed the good tradition of talent cultivation, with cultivating leaders as its goal, and a systematic talent cultivation including subjects, teaching, management, evaluation and environment. All these factors are interactive and coordinating with each other to serve talent cultivation in Oxford University. The success of talent cultivation in Oxford University also relies on its definite development orientation, and coordinating traditions and reforms. Therefore, Oxford University survived challenges of social development, and its talent cultivation shows new tendency.
