Confronted with globalization, with the challenge of knowledge economy and the national overall power competitiveness in the 21st century, countries worldwide are paying more and more attention to cultivating the efficacy talents in higher education. Although many achievements have been made in Chinese talent cultivation in higher education in recent years, there are still some deficiencies after all. Facing those deficiencies, it's important to learn from other countries.With an universally acknowledged most -developed education system, the United States has only a history of nearly 300 years since its colony period. Although it is such a young country, the education career has achieved such an extraordinary achievements,which in turn backs the quick development of American society with strong support. Thus it gains the world's attention as the world center of higher education. The analysis of the history of the American higher education situations leads to the conclusion that the achievement is a result of long-term study of the education in Europe and the proper and creative transfer and adaptation of the education concept and mechanism from Europe. Aiming at the practical use,American higher education has undergone development and reform ,which provides abundant human resources and talents reservation to the development and progress of the society and the country. Under the current new international environment,new trend of higher education appears in America. The profound research in it provides valuable guidance which would promote the reform and advancement of the higher education in China.This thesis can be divided into three parts.
