Through analyzing quantitatively the pertinence between postgraduate education and regional economy in China, US, Japan and Britain, This magisterial thesis finds our regional distribution of postgraduate education is irrational. It embodies the scales of postgraduate education and economy in the same region mismatch. Some regions have large-scale economy and develop very soon, but they have small-scale postgraduate education. However, some regions have small-scale economy but large-scale postgraduate education. The state of the art in postgraduate education and regional economy adversely affects themselves. The reasons of postgraduate education and regional economy's unharmonious expansion are mulriple. For example, college and department regulation, three line construction, higher education investment system, university management system and university operation system, etc, all play a part.Facing the unharmonious development of our postgraduate education and regional economy, this thesis provides four principles: regarding history, matching scale, regarding market and harmonious development. It also propounds four concrete optimization methods, that is to extend jurisdiction for management of the local level of government, extend autonomy of organizations of postgraduate education, develop medium social service agencies and let Industry-academy-research cooperation be universities' guide.Last, but not least, this thesis designs a quantitative model in order to provide a concrete reference target for adjusting scales of our different regional postgraduate.
