Work stress has been a hot topic in psychology at present since the quick development in Chinese sport has brought not only unprecedented opportunities but also much stress to Chinese coaches. Taking the coaches in water sport as subjects, with the help of interviews, document research and questionnaires, adopting statistical methods including factor analysis and relate analysis, this article covers the study in the internal structure of the work stress for coaches in water sport and the relation among their work stress, coping styles and social support.The conclusions are as follows:1. The work stress for coaches in water sport is consisted of workload, organization structure, career development, sportsman, interpersonal relationships, external expectation and work conditions. The work stress for coaches in water sport is comparatively high. Among the above 8 factors, workload embodies more work stress.2. The work stress for coaches in water sport varies in gender, educational background, marital status and age.3. The coping style for coaches in water sport varies in gender, educational background, marital status and age.4. The social support for coaches in water sport varies in gender, educational background, marital status and age.5. The coping styles and the social support for coaches in water sport differ too. The coaches with low work stress tend to apply positive ways like problem-solving or asking for help. Besides, they enjoy better social support.6. The coping styles, the social support and work stress for coaches in water sport are related to each other selectively.7. The relation between the coping styles and the social support for coaches in water sport shows that asking for help in coping styles and subjective support, objective support and application degree for support are prominently related.At last, some suggestions are put forward for coaches themselves and their managing institutions in light of reducing their work stress e and improving their work efficiency.
