When a person carries out writing in English, he has to make full use of his integrating skills. As a result, English writing can reflect the person's English proficiency to a great extent. With the rapid development of modern society the exchange and co-operation in science, technology, economy, culture and the like between different countries in the world are increasingly being strengthened. As an international communication tool, English is playing a more and more important role. All trades and walks are in great need of a lot of people who are particularly good at communicating in written English. However, English writing has always been a weak link of English teaching in our country. For example, for this or that reasons the developing of students' English writing ability hasn't been paid necessary attention to. In addition, as a whole, students' English writing ability is far from satisfactory. So the research aims at applying the Process Genre Approach to senior high school English writing teaching based on the exploration of the basic theories for senior high school English writing teaching, the analysis of the present situation of senior high school English writing teaching and the disclosure of the major problems existing in senior high school English writing teaching and learning in order to find out whether the approach can solve the major problems existing in senior high school English writing teaching and learning and improve students' English writing ability as a whole.This paper includes five parts .The first part is about the background and significance of the research, the present situation of English writing research at home and abroad, the main research methods of the paper and the structure of the paper. The second part discusses the basic theories of senior high school English teaching. The third part analyses the present situation of senior high school English teaching and learning and the main problems existing in senior high school English teaching and learning. The fourth part deals with the application of the process genre approach to senior high school English teaching. The last part is the conclusion of the paper.
