The thesis is about the research and experiment of applying Situation Teaching Model to the teaching of English for junior high school students. The research has an experimental basis, and our focuses have been on the working out of both the Principles and measures of effective situation scenarios creating in the classroom. Also, an afterthought has been followed after the analysis of the results of the experiment, which can be of some benefits for those teachers who are currently applying this teaching model to their English teaching, or those who plan to do so in the future.Situation Teaching Model has a long history in foreign language teaching world. The main ideas of it have been developed from Natural Method which appeared in the 1890s and Task-based Language Teaching which appeared at the beginning of the 21 century. It plays a very important role in foreign language teaching. Further, it helps to broaden the academic views of the teachers who are seeking hard for a more effective way of English teaching.Situation Teaching Model focuses on the creating of effective situation scenarios for students in the classroom, which makes learning not only easier, but also full of fun. Further, Situation Teaching Model lays extreme importance on the quality of both input and output in the classroom, which gurantee that students have enough exposure to language in the class.The thesis starts with the literary survey of the definition and history of situational method. It then surveys some related theories to support the idea of applying Situation Teaching Model to the teaching of English for junior high school students. What follows is the working out of some rules to be observed when creating effective situation scenarios for students in the class. To guarantee the validity of the followed experiment, we put a lot of emphasis on the discussion of the operational measures of creating effective situation scenarios in the class. What is more, one of the writer's teaching plans has been included. With detailed analysis of the plan, we mean to show to readers how to effectively teach English for junior high school students by means of effective situation scenarios creating in the class.To prove that the method is both feasible and effective , We did an experiment . The results of the one-year-experiment show that students' academic achievements have been obviously improved after the experiment, which indicates that the application of Situation Teaching Model in junior high school can be a more effective way of English teaching when compared with traditional way of English teaching.The writer hopes the research will be beneficial to those junior high school English teachers who want to improve English teaching and those who will do the related research.
