English learning aims at communication, and the students' communicative ability means listening, speaking, reading and writing. Of them, writing is an important way to language output and it can reflect students' comprehensive language ability. And writing is an important part in senior middle school English class, it should exist in the whole process of English teaching and aim at foster the students' abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. But the present English teaching is affected by traditional teaching approaches, the teachers consider it as a way to deal with the test, and the students consider it as an item of spending plenty of time but having little effects, the teachers have much difficulity in teaching writing and the students are not interested in it, in NMET, although they have learned English for many years, they get lower scores.This thesis focuses on introducing and applying to task-based approach in senior middle school English class. Task-based approach believes that foreign language teaching is a course to deal with communicative tasks and class activities should be organized by tasks but not by language knowledge or structure. Task-based learning is to "learn in practice". Students develop their writing by finishing the tasks, which gives the learners more language input. The teacher is not a commander of the class, but an organizer of the real communicative tasks. The learners' motivation and interest in language learning can be enhanced after the application of task-based approach. Positive results of this approach may lead to opportunities of implementing it in senior middle school English writing class.On the basis of the notion and implementation framework of task-based approach, this thesis is intended to explore the application of the approach in senior middle school English writing class, and make detailed research work on solving the learners' writing problems.The thesis is made up of five parts:Chapter one introduces the background and the personal experience in high schoolwriting class.Chapter two introduces the theory about the task-based approach in details; the research work of the famous linguists in or abroad.Chapter three introduces the teaching process of the task-based approach in writing class and the research design and the real teaching cases in writing class by using task-based approach.Chapter four introduces the process of data collection and analysisChapter five mainly draws a conclusion coming from the data and questionnaire by using the means of comparison, the results are proved that the class applied to the task-based approach is better than the one applied to the traditional approach.Chapter six points out the limitation of this research about the task-based approach, sets forth the discussion about task-based approach better applied to writing classes and the suggestion for the future study.There are several research methods. They are comparison, analytic method, cause analysis, questionnaire and so on.
