On Cultural Infiltration Of English Teaching In High Schools

The new curriculum reform has made teaching cultural awareness one of the five basic objectives.It has been as important for us to train students in English cultural awareness as to improve their language knowledge and language skills.According to our observation,we find that if we teach our students English with good cultural infiltration methods in a planned way,we will be able to enhance students' interest in English learning and improve students' ability of using this language as well as their English level.This article begins with the relations between the teaching of foreign language and its culture and it has also discussed English teaching-related objectives,teaching content,teaching methods,learning environment,evaluation methods in high school,the resistance factors in the implementation of cultural infiltration,such as English teachers,students,school, social factors..The objectives,teaching content of the cultural infiltration and the implementation of culture teaching on its objectives,principles and possible ways are also discussed.We have an experiment in the cultural infiltration in the teaching process for a period of 16 weeks.Through a series of experimental data collation and analysis of the full implementation of the English cultural demonstrates,we can see the feasibility of teaching infiltration and its active role.It covers the theoretical analysis of the relationship between language and culture,cultural and foreign language teaching,culture and literature,the advantages and disadvantages in teaching culture.The conclusion is:First,language and culture are inseparable and the cultural infiltration into language teaching is the law itself. Second,the cultural infiltration into language teaching in high school is not only to strengthen the teaching objectives of "standard English courses",but also to be given to us by history and the times.
