"Transfer"is a psychology term, referring to the phenomenon that the old knowledge has great effect on the new knowledge when the learner learn something. But the language transfer theory which is related to foreign language study was raise in about 50's. it refers to the phenomenon that when the learner use the task language, he or she wants the aid of the native language, including pronunciation, the meaning of the word, the structure rules, and cultural customs to express his or her thoughts. This kind of phenomenon is extremely common in the foreign language study, in particular in foreign language study initial stage. The language transfer has two kinds, including positive transfer and negative transfer. And the positive one have good effect on language study, but negative one has side effect.Today's popular education slogan is"teaching for transfer". And language transfer has profound effect on every aspect of English teaching, such as reading comprehension, translation, writing and so on. Above all, language transfer has great effect on listening teaching.According to the law of transfer, how effective do teachers in teaching listening comprehension enable students to exertion their original knowledge in promoting the transfer, thereby enhancing the students'listening comprehension? From the process of listening comprehension, we know that listening comprehension is that the listener combines the listening integrated knowledge factors: vocabulary, pronunciation, intonation, grammar, pragmatics knowledge and cultural background knowledge of the prerequisite conditions to make use of the correct cerebral phenomenon through a series of recognition, perception, reasoning, judgment, memory forecast and psychological activities processed in a language ability. Therefore, listening comprehension is that one of the listener's characters in the consolidated basis under the prerequisite knowledge is a language acquisition capacity of the special point and we can think of a good way to increase listening comprehension efficiency in the initiated cognitive structure with the use of transfer.Listening comprehension is a positive, creative thinking process and is a complex psychological process of the language. Listening transfer theory in the teaching is just to help students develop a learning strategy to reduce the burden on the listener's part, but it cannot solve all the problems. It also requires us to do more understanding of the subject and object. In the continuing practice, listening gradually completes learning strategy. This paper discussed the transfer of high school instruction in English listening impact. The first chapter is based on the background, purpose, meaning, methods and restriction. Second, it describes the nature of the language movement, the main categories, the transfer of learner's correct attitude, other factors affecting the listening ability and positive transfer's influence on listening ability. Chapter three, it shows a questionnaire and interviews. Chapter four, it leads to recommendations. It includes native contrast to the objective and purpose of language, the use of the mother tongue, how to strengthen learners'interest and motivation and the correct choice of listening materials. It sums up that the teachers should explore innovative and effective teaching methods to fully utilize language transfer as the most important role in teaching listening comprehension.
