The U.S.A. is one of the countries which have the most developed higher education in the world. Also, it has produced the most doctors and the quality of its doctor training has reached the world-class level in a lot of disciplines. According to the report of"the U.S.A.'s educational statistics digest"in 1995 , the U.S.A can produce 33,000 doctors each year and it has already trained more than 600,000 doctors since the seventies of the 20th century. The U.S.A. began to award the doctorate in 1861. After the development of more than 100 years, a complete degree system and a ripe cultivation system have been set up, which guarantee the output of large quantities of high-quality doctors every year. This plays an essential role for the U.S.A to keep the rank first in economy, science and technology, education, military development and the comprehensive national strength.The doctor training in our country has a long history, but the speed of the development is relatively slow. The path of its development is difficult, too. This situation wasn't improved until 1981, when the degree system was implemented. The number of the recruited dotors since the nineties of the 20th century is five times of that in the eighties, which demonstrates the trend of fast development. However, due to the short period of development, the restrictions of less experience and other conditions, there are a lot of urgent problems in the theories and practices of doctor training.This research has applied the literature method, comparative mehtod and interview method to compare the different doctor training systems between China and America in objectives, students selection, teaching contents, teaching methods and the way of assessing,etc. Through the research the author tries to discover the deficiency of our doctor training system and learn the successful experience of the U.S.A.for reference, in order to improve our cultivation system of doctor training and produce a large number of talents for the economic construction , social development and improvement of the comprehensive national strength of our country.
