In the fall of 2009 our province starts the ordinary high school curriculum reform in the first grade of high school. The PEP editions of Chinese textbooks for high schools have been largely changed. The latest curriculum criterion pays more attention to the development of students'emotion, attitude and values. Foreign literary works involved in the teaching material are helpful to a certain extent for students to understand the characteristics of the worldwide literary works, and enable students to foster aesthetic interest in communicating with multicultures, thus reflecting the spirit of the New Syllabus. The senior high school language teachers must precede a series of adjustments according to the changes of teaching materials and the present teaching situations, explore the effective teaching strategies, and through effective reading to foreign literary works guide students to strengthen the sensitivity of cultural differences and the abilities to enjoy, compare and learn from the foreign literary works. In the introduction part it is pointed out that the foreign literary works have positive significance in our country's language teaching. Also the suggestions from the domestic scholars and experts on teaching the foreign literary works in China are collected and the practical meanings of adjusting the teaching strategies are emphasized. The first part analyzes the proportions and the content changes of the selected foreign literary works in our province's multiple curriculum reforms, and discusses the guiding ideology of criteria for selections and evaluation. The second part outlines the present teaching situation of foreign literary works in senior high schools from the student and the teacher's two aspects, and points out, under the college entrance examinations'background, the limits of quantity of reading and the drawbacks in teachers'accomplishments and teaching methods. The third to sixth parts attempts to inquire the systemic teaching strategies so as to help students to study the foreign literature, and also attempts to infiltrate some literature theories and the literary criticism methods to the foreign literature text explanation. The teacher stimulates student's reading interest through the visual recommendation and introduction and expands their reading range; develops students'personalized reading ability for the foreign literary works by guiding them in the process of experience, question and migration; enables students to more effectively understand the foreign works by comparing different cultural backgrounds, thinking modes, and creation concepts to inspire students to grasp the differences of foreign literature; by guiding students to learn abundance and unique features in writing and speaking from the foreign works further enhances their reading level of the foreign literary works, and establishes the global awareness of their cultural exchanges and integration.
