In this new century, our economy continues its rapid development and our national power is further strengthened. The living standard has gone through enormous changes and people are increasingly concerned about their health. Therefore, physical fitness has inevitablely become a way of life for modern people, more and more people are joining themselves into fitness activities. People's demand for fitness is growing. A sports fitness consumer market begins to take shape. With the advantages in sites, equipments, environment, atmosphere, service and many others, fitness clubs have attracted a large number of gym members.With the rapid development of fitness industry, a new career - fitness coach emerged in our job market. As the club's core strength, fitness coaches lead people into the field of physical fitness. Facing the trainees directly, these trainers will teach and promote scientific methods of fitness to the general consumers. Shijiazhuang City, the capital of Hebei province, is the center of politics, economy, culture, transportation, information, and education in Hebei Province. The first fitness club in Shijiazhuang was founded in 1999. In just 10 years'time, dozens of large and small clubs have been set up. As a new form of public health service, fitness club has got public recognition. The experience of fitness clubs in Shijiazhuang City will have a demonstration and radiation effect to the whole province.This article, by using documentation methods, questionnaires and so on, conducted an investigation to Shijiazhuang's Fitness Club trainers. The findings show:Male trainers in Shijiazhuang fitness clubs occupy a much higher proportion than female trainers. Young trainers, ususlly at the age of 20 to 30, showing a youth- oriented trend, become the nucleus of this team. Although the trainers'years of schooling are getting longer and many of them even have a certificate, their instruction experience is short in general. The fitness training professional qualification authentication system is quite a chaotic. Trainers'opportunities of taking training are quite few.According to their value, Fitness trainer's synthesis capability index ranks as: healthy, fitness knowledge, teaching ability, exercise prescription ability, contact ability and innovation ability. Many problems, like diversity in ability, long time in training, low payment, low acquaintancy, and the big disparity between different clubs and coaches, are widely existed.The following suggestions are put forward after research: The trainers should be provided the opportunity for further study. They should be encouraged and supported for their training and studies to universities or cultural training organizations, They should get richer training culture education so as to improve their whole quality, to strengthen their vocational level, and to promote the service level of the fitness clubs in the end. Fitness clubs, by providing instructors more training opportunities, help them to learn the most cutting-edge theoretical and technical knowledge and to do better job in fitness-guidance. Trainers'ability should be further strengthened in the field of exercise-prescribing, fitness capability assessment, first aid training, learning and innovation etc. We should establish a Shijiazhuang City Health Club Fitness Coach Association, and exchange teaching experiences through the association, so as to get a scientific, standardized and sustainable development in fitness guiding; commercial clubs should gradually establish and perfect the system, fitness personal trainer evaluation system, developed scientific and reasonable fitness personal trainer of assessment and evaluation criteria, improve the trainer's salary. For the outstanding coaches, we should select them proportionaly for further studies or management promotion. The Poor performance coach should be given certain punishment or dismissal and sports colleges should give more concern to this new career. Personnel training mode should adapt to the current market economy conditions, broaden the professional training direction, adjust the subject structure optimization program allocation, and target to train a group of high-quality experts. We should put the clubs into the graduate employment scope, and seize the employment gap to enhance the adaptability and competitiveness of sports college graduates in the field of fitness.
