Long Bi is a disease of Urinary excretion, which is characterized by dysuresia, hypouresis, and urination. Generally, Long has a slow onset and long course, which manifests as the urine flowing out difficultly and shortly. While, Bi has a fast onset, and short course which manifests as the occlusion of urine. The disease’s locations are kidney and bladder. The main causes are kidney and bladder’s functional disturbance and the abnormality of tri-jiao’s gasification. Long Bi, is equivalent to western medicine’s urinary retention and anuria, which are caused by various reasons, including urinary tract stones, urinary tract cancer, urethral stricture, urinary tract injury, benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder sphincter spasm, nervous urine retention, myelitis, post-renal and renal parenchymal disease.Research objectives:1. Clarify Long’s meaning in ancient literatures and the history of Long Bi-related diseases’names; 2. Mine, organize, and analyze important views of ancient doctors and books, and try to clarify the academic inheritance and development, according to the time venation; 3. Investigate how to apply the pulse diagnosis to Long Bi’s differentiation from five viscera.Research methods:This subject adopts the traditional philology research methods, studying ancient medical literature on Long Bi’s diagnosis and treatment, from the pre-Qin to the Qing dynasty in different periods.Research results:1.
