Xi County is located in Xinyang regional of Henan Province, while Xinyangregional is located at the junction of Hubei Province,Henan Province and AnhuiProvince.Because of the special geographical position, the entire Xinyang regionaldialects show great differences. In view of the evolution directions of its anciententering tones, Xi County dialect belongs to Zhongyuan Mandarin.Because of theinfluences of Jianghuai Mandarin and Southwest Mandarin, Xi County dialect alsoappeares some special phonetic phenomena. Firstly,this article describes thephonetic system of Xi County dialect in detail,and analyzes the characteristics of itsinitials,fanals and tones.Then,makes two special study of special phoneticfeatures.Lastly,this article comares Xi County dialect with the surroundingdialects,thus to obtain a relatively compete phonetics features of Xi Countydialect.This article has five chapters:Chapter One introduces the geography, the history conditions, the previousstudies, the research value of this article, content and method of Xi County dialectbriefly.Chapter Two describes the phonetic system and characteristics of Xi Countydialect.Chapter Three is a special study.It discusses the similarities and differencesbetween Xiao-set and Fei-set, and tries to make some analysis of the causes.Chapter Four is also a special study.It introduces the evolution situation of themedial[u] in detail.Chapter Five comare Xi County dialect with the surrounding dialects frominitials,fanals and tones. Thus it can be seen that Xi County dialect was affected bythe Jianghuai Mandarin and Southwest Mandarin.Through the comprehensive investigation and analysis, this article presentedpronunciation of Xi County dialect from a certain extent,and it has a positive effectfor people to understand and study the Zhongyuan Mandarin better.
