Animated typeface is a product result from the highly integration of technology and art, and itis also a new mode of creativity profit from multidisciplinary collaboration under the backgroundof “omnimedia” and “panimation” times. Benefiting from the creative experience of motiongraphic start from1970s, the typeface, which had both legibility and visualization, was going tobreak through the limitation from static visual field, and was ready to play as a active andcontagious role in animation. Animated typeface has its own characteristics from form toconnotation, which is worth well repay investigation. I try to define animated typeface, analyzethe produce condition and development history, make a detailed analysis of theoreticalcharacteristics, classify its works according to the excellent cases at home and abroad, explore thepotential, and make an outlook for development prospect.
