| Cohesion, as an indispensable means of connecting language units and expressing the logic relationship between them, plays an important role in constructing texts. In translation the transference of cohesion into another language is also an important issue worth discussion and consideration. The thesis centers upon the theory of cohesion and its application into translation practice. It is divided into four parts. In the first part the theory of cohesion is introduced and a classification of it will be made. The second part deals with the difference in terms of cohesion between Chinese and English. The application of the theory into practice is in the third part, and the final part makes a conclusion for the thesis. Understanding the cohesion in the text helps translators to have a clear idea about the meaning of the whole text and the relationship between sentences or paragraphs, making the translated text more faithful to the original version. |
