Energy drinks as a kind of special functional beverage, its effect is getting bigger and bigger. On the one hand, the caffeine, taurine, lysine and many other ingredients in it can work on the human body function and have some effects on improving individual’s cognitive function. On the other hand, energy drinks may cause risks to organisms has also attracted wide attention. At the beginning of this century, many foreign psychologists made research on the effect of energy drinks and obtained some results, but there is still not psychological research on energy drinks in China. Based on the foreign research, made the college students and graduate students as participants, this study made research on placebo effect of the energy drinks.The study contains two experiments:Experiment 1: Using Go/no-go task paradigm to study the effects of energy drinks on reaction time, fatigue and to study whether placebo effects exist in the energy drink. This experiment make the drinks as independent variable and the response time, error rate, fatigue self-assessment as the dependent variable, and use one-way ANOVA.Experiment2: Using improved Go/no-go task paradigm to explore the influence factors of the placebo effect and analysis the influence of placebo effect from different types of priming materials. This experiment is 3(Type of priming materials: video positive start, speech positive start, speech negative start)×2(Type of cues: valid cue, invalid cue) two factors mixed experiment, which the type of priming materials are between-subject factor, type of cues are within-subject factor and the dependent variable is the reaction time. The results demonstrate that the type of cues and materials have the main effect.Research results are as follows:The results of the experiment 1 demonstrate that compared with no-drinking group, the change of energy drink group’s RT and fatigue are obvious, and the change of placebo group’s RT is obvious.The results of the experiment 2 demonstrate that the main effect of priming materials and cues are obvious. The RT of video positive start and speech positive start are significantly changed compared with speech negative start. The RT of valid cue is shorter than the invalid clue. Compared to the valid clue, the change of invalid cue’s reaction time is more obvious.Research conclusions are as follows:(1)Energy drinks has the effect of shortened participants with reaction time and easing the fatigue.(2)The energy drinks contains placebo effect which can make the subjects’ RT shorten significantly, but it can’t relieve fatigue significantly.(3) Placebo effect is influenced by the priming materials, positive materials promote placebo effect, while negative materials may lead to “Nocebo effect”.(4)The type of cues can influence on reaction time.
