O’Sullivan, Ansel Adams and John Pfahl are famous American photographers in three different periods of time, and they separately represent three peak achievement in the natural landscape photography,so as to form the development context of the American landscape photography artistic.O’Sullivan is one of the earliest photographic artists who is aware of how to transfer natural language to the language of photography in mid-19 th century, he has made great contribution to the early classical art of photograph. O’Sullivan is a pioneer in American landscape photography art, his work represents the first peak of the American landscape photography art.In the early 20 th century, with the efforts of the father of modern American photography Alfred Stieglitz, the United States has become the center of Western modernist photography, and it has emerged a large number of outstanding modernist photographer. In the natural landscape photography art area, Adams undoubtedly made the greatest contribution to the history of American photography. Since the 1930 s, Ansel Adams’ s landscape photograph gradually conquered the art world, his interpretation of “regional exposure” method has become the courses of young photographer, the artist’s photographic language.John Pfahl is one of the most famous and influencial photography in the 20 th century of America, his achievement is so great that his works are still have huge influence the art of photography, he realized from the natural landscape to the dialectical relationship between natural language and convert artistic language, and thus redefine the concept of photography. He is specialized in the profound of recording and analyzing the dialectical relationship between human and nature. His representative works include Picture Windows, Piles, Extreme Horticulture, Arcadia Revisited: its River and Falls from Lake at Erie to Lake Ontario, etc.Through the paper, the author gradually make a introduction and explanation among O’Sullivan, Ansel Adams and Pfahl of their photography experience and language features, and further comparative studies of their photography language, which explores the history language of American natural landscape photography, it combined photography and connotation of photographers, which is to further explain the dialectical relationship between photographic language and natural language. And achieve the goal of deconstruction the conventional photographic concepts, so as to human understanding of the natural landscape changes, to profound analysis of human behavior, which shall make great cultural contributions.
