Wangzhen Nongshu is a comprehensive book of the ancient agriculture, which is compiled by absorbing generational agricultural achievements and basing on the Yuan Dynasty, so the inheritance of this book is extremely strong.The language of this book is simple and easy to understand, thus this book contains a lot of agricultural colloquialisms, which circulated following the history. The agricultural colloquialisms are those agricultural words that the general public in agricultural production activities renamed the agricultural things on the basis of the names of agricultural things according their inner links or their external characteristics or something others, so those agricultural words compared with the terms of agriculture are more popular, and take formal notation frequently, such as "common customs say" "natives say" "people in XX place say".This paper mainly researches crop colloquialisms and farm implements colloquialisms in Wangzhen Nongshu. From the point of linguistics, demonstrating the central significance and the name reasons of the agricultural colloquialisms by classified neatening and analyzing crop colloquialisms and farm implements colloquialisms. This paper can be divided into four parts:The first chapter is the general situation of Wangzhen Nongshu. Mainly presenting the life of Wang Zhen, the main content and the finished time of this book,ect.The second chapter is about the classification study of agricultural colloquialisms of Wangzhen Nongshu. Firstly, detailedly explaining the definition of the agricultural colloquialisms. Then, the agricultural colloquialisms are divided into four areas, which contains grain rice cereal, vegetables and fruits, bamboo trees, agricultural equipment, etc. Secondly, respectively choosing segmental agricultural colloquialisms from above-mentioned four areas, and analysing and explaining them with those previous agricultural documents and research achievements, in order to demonstrate the central significance of agricultural colloquialisms and the reasons why the agricultural things have many colloquial names.The third chapter discusses the name reasons of agricultural colloquialisms in Wangzhen Nongshu.This chapter synthetically investigates the agricultural colloquialisms in this book, analyses their name reasons. Eventually the name reasons are divided into word’s inner motivation and word’s external motivation. Word’s inner motivation contains three aspects,such as rhetoric, language pronounciation, language meaning; word’s external motivation contains agricultural objects’shape, tinct, gustatory sense, space-time, function, culture and comprehensive reason. Under every word’s motivation, this chapter lists the agricultural colloquialisms in Wangzhen Nongshu as many as possible and concretely analyses representative colloquialisms. The agricultural colloquialisms, whose name reasons are easy to understand are described generally.
