Since the cognitive dissonance theory was put forward, it has aroused a lot of research, and the theory also has been greatly enriched and developed. At present, the study on the cognitive dissonance has expanded from self-level concern to the more basic individual psychological processing level, but the specific mechanism of action is still controversial. Through two behavior experiments, the study discusses the impact of individual emotional status on the cognitive dissonance. The specific content of the study is as follows:Experiment one:the impact of explicit positive emotions and explicit negative emotions on cognitive dissonance.by applying the experimental paradigm of the emotion priming, and adopting facial emotion images to induce the tested explicit positive and negative emotions, the tested cognitive dissonance situations under different emotional statuses are discussed. The experiment results shows that, both the two kinds of emotions can aggravate the tested state of the cognitive dissonance, there is no significant difference between the impacts of the two on the cognitive dissonance.Experiment two:the impact of implicit positive emotions and implicit negative emotions on the cognitive dissonance.by applying the masked priming paradigm, and using and adopting facial emotion images to induce the tested implicit positive and negative emotions, the impact of the different implicit emotional valence on the tested cognitive dissonance, and the result shows that, the degree of the tested cognitive dissonance under the state of the implicit positive emotions is lower than that under the implicit negative emotions state. The conclusions of the study is as follows:(1). The degree of the cognitive dissonance is regulated by the individual emotional state, the emotion is perhaps one of the important mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction; (2). The effect of explicit emotions and implicit emotions on cognitive dissonance is different. In the state of explicit positive and negative emotions, there is no significant difference in the degree of the cognitive dissonance; whereas the degree in the state of the implicit positive emotions is lower than that in the implicit negative emotions. Maybe there are different mechanisms exist in the effect of the explicit emotions and implicit emotions on the cognitive dissonance.
