Chen Hongshou is a master painting of Ming dynasty, his life creation type involved quite a lot, including his figure painting is in “Gao Gu” style and point has been the spirit of rich connotation. The past art historians is fruitful research results about Chen Hongshou, try a different approach in this paper, through the study of Tao Yuanming Chen Hongshou later life theme creation, contact social and cultural background, the artist’s situation, late Ming dynasty through the schema types of induction of portraits of Tao Yuanming, analyzes his life, Chen Hongshou figure painting creation psychology, in order from the microscopic but do not break the side of the meaning, rather reveal themselves in old age: Chen Hongshou figure painting creation consciousness and unique aesthetic connotation.Through research, this paper puts forward the viewpoint that the following several aspects: First, Tao Yuanming’s image is bearing the problem of his life in the face of the complicated social transition, Chen Hongshou especially regime change brought about the scholarly status’ s change and spiritual anxiety, examination and reflection on the living conditions of himself, to a secluded life yearning and pursuit.Second, he from the "story" narrative, "portrait" portrait, "chrysanthemum" metaphors such as different angles to create a unique "formation" Tao Yuanming, and through the characters in the painting, antique implements innovative art, highlights the Tao Yuanming "self consciousness" of the portrait.
