The Relationship Between Parental Marriage Quality, Parenting Style And Children 's Social Competence

Social ability is a significant skill acquired by children in the course of the child’s socialization. It concerns about whether the individuals can take a positive attitude towards life in the future, adapt to social environment actively, coordinate the relationship with others and group, take on the social responsibility courageously and the like. In a sense, education with sociality in childhood is more important than spread knowledge and practice skills. The family is one of the important places for children to be socialized, which begins with the establishment of marriage relation. The quality of marriage relation plays a core role in family harmony and unity. Whether parents have a harmonious relation is related to children’s social adjustment. Meanwhile, parental rearing style is closely linked with children’s personality and social development. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is aim to provide theoretical support and practical operational recommendations in terms of parents how to effectively cultivate children’s social ability in real life.On the basis of consulting literature material, researchers have further sorted out, understood the marriage quality, family cultivation ways, the concept of education and children’s social ability and its related research. Reference to previous ideas, put forward the parents’ marriage quality, relationship between parents’ and children’s social ability. Data were collected by means of questionnaire. Through data analysis, explain the influence of parents’ marital quality on the development of children’s social ability, parent upbringing influence on children’s social ability development, and the mediation effect of parenting.Based on the results of questionnaire survey, according to the questionnaire scores,through purposeful sampling, extract the six participated in the survey’s mother.And make in-depth interview with them. Through the interview materials of generalizations and quantitative research conclusions confirm each other.In the survey, the marital adjustment scale, parenting assessment scale and children’s social competence scale questionnaire survey of Qufu city primary school 385 high grade students and their mothers. In these tables, 385 students and their mothers in a grammar school in Qufu were investigated. The couples’ adaptation scale and the children’s social ability rating scale were completed by the student’s mother. However, the parents style adaptation scale was fill in according to the student’s actual situation by the teacher. According to these numbers, we can know the correlation coefficient between the quality of the parents and the children’s social ability was 0.51. Father’s emotional warmth,understanding and children’s social competence of the correlation coefficient is0.22. There is no doubt that father’s refuse and suspect influence the children’s social competence of the correlation coefficient is-0.16. On the contrary, the influence coefficients of the mother and the related social ability survey were 0.21and-0.13, respectively. The regression coefficient of children’s social ability and the quality of parents’ marriage was 0.25. Therefore, we can reach the following conclusion that the quality of marriage and the parent’s style affect the development of children’s social ability; Parents’ rearing patterns by warmth understanding interference, overprotection, rejection, denial and severe punishment about four dimensions such as the development of children’s social ability; Parents can care, communication, respect, and guidance to help and encourage trust and positive behavior, leaded by example, efforts to foster children’s social ability. That can make the child become a happy person, good people, who will offer positive energy to tne society.
