SEU is the result of that electriferous particle cast the sensitive region of integration circuit parts of an apparatus. It usually changes the register and memory content of parts of an apparatus. In order to resist the SEU in outspace so that the picture compression based on FPGA can work in a long time, this article introduces a design of RAID. This design can both enhance the reliability of the picture and resist SEU effectively.This is a two unit standby system. It consists of two subsystems which are equality. They communicate with each other by reticle. In this system, the condition of switch is not only heartbeat signal but also the state signal of primaryserver. The standbyserver instead of primaryserver thought this information. When the system is startup, the subsystem that runs first is primaryserver. It completes the compression and sends the heartbeat signal. The other subsystem is standbyserver, it detective the state of primaryserver. When the primaryserver run error, they switch. Then they run by turns.The subsystems are the development board of ML402 and XUP that are provided by Xilinx. There is a Virtex-4 on the ML402 which support MicroBlaze; and there is a Virtex-II pro on the XUP which support both MicroBlaze and PowerPC405. In the embedded system, the microprocessors are MicroBlaze and PowerPC405. The software in the system mainly includes embedded operation system Xilkernel and function libraries of standard C. In development process there are three necessarily steps. They are hardware design, software design and application design.This article completes the whole development. In terms of hardware, we have completed the design of processor, peripherals and buses; In terms of software, we have generated the necessary libraries and have completed kernel customization; In the terms of application, we have implemented all the function make use of API provided by embedded operation system Xilkernel such as thread management, semaphores, message queues, mutex locks and so on.
