With the increasing of society informationization, social daily operation depended on software system more and more. This situation made software quality, especially software reliability become a problem that could not be ignored. To improve software quality, software reliability testing played a more and more important role in software life cycle. Software reliability testing could find and resolve the defects in software effectively, increasing the reliable level.Software reliability growth model was, the key of the software reliability testing and reliability evaluation. There had been some software reliability models which described software reliability in some degree. However, more or less limitation existed in these models, and there not existed a model that could be used widely in an exact way. What is more, the ideally supposes of the model also limited the use of the model in society. Researchers kept on exploring models which adapted the actual instance more exactly.At first, this paper introduced the inner and outer history and actuality of software reliability growth model and some relative concepts of software reliability and software reliability testing, providing basic knowledge of this paper. Then, this paper introduced some usual themes of the research of software reliability growth model, which provided mathematical knowledge for this paper. Under this mathematical knowledge, this paper presented some traditional software reliability growth models. At last, considering we could not use limited testing procedures to cover all potential fault-sites of the software, this paper proposed a software reliability growth model based on uncompleted cover on potential fault-sites. The goodness-of-fit and the prediction precise of the new model examined using several software failure data sets could achieve a better effect compared with other existing model.
