The 1394 bus as high performance serial bus was proposed by APP1E and TI.APPLE names it FireWire and SONY names it i.Link.l394,as a kind of data transfer's standard has the trait of high speed agility and extensible,it has been thought as one of the data transmissin mode at maximum efficiency.After the 1394 revision of specification is issued, 1394 has been widley used in PC peripherals equipment and it has became one of the most important directions of video acquisition.So,it is very important to design a camera base on 1394 specification.In the paper,both hardware and software are designed of the camera base on the 1394.The system is connected to the computer by the 1394 interface.And it is capable of processing video signals.The system is composed of the following parts: the image acquiring circuit,micro control unit and 1394 interface and the system driver.In the acquiring circuit,the image sensor OV9620 is used to complete the acquisition of digital images.we control the 1394 interface by the 1394 controller TSB43AA82 which supports 1394.The implementation of 1394 interface,the firm ware programming, principle,key codes are given.We expound WDM drinvers's layered architecture,work flow,plug and play, equipment stack IRP processing technologyand synchronization processing technolo g y.In addition,1394 bus technology is analyzed completely. Bus management,bus arbitration,bus config, bus communication ,register and config ROM and so on are included.Finally,designed the 1394 driver.
