The physical essence of tectonic earthquake is that the media strength of source area islower than its stress. Therefore, monitoring both medium stress state and its changes atseismogenic layer depth is a direct method for solving the problem of earthquake prediction.Since the earthquake happens in deep underground, the temporal and spatial changes ofmedia stress within the seismogenic layer at depth cannot be directly monitored. However,Source parameters and media parameters of the massive and frequently happening earthquakeof middle or small magnitude carry the information of the stress field and the media’scharacteristics of the structures at the earthquake’s depth. Monitoring the evolution of theseparameters, which can monitor the stress of the seismogenic and the change of the mediaproperties before strong earthquake happens, is one of the main contents in the study ofseismology. Moreover, it is more meaningful to understand the earthquake’s happen and doearthquake prediction research, and it has been paid much attention to by domestic andforeign seismologists.With the spectral analysis method and disc dislocation mode by Brune, this paperdeveloped a friendly-interface and stable-performance source physical parameter analysissoftware named FocalParameter source physical parameter analysis software using MATLABplatform. This software mainly fulfills the functions of seismic waveform data reading, datapre-processing, data routine calculation, source physical parameter calculation, and resultoutput. And the data reading function includes the waveform diagram display and shut-down,diagram and waveform data saving, seismic information checking, and etc. The data routinecalculation includes the numerical integration, numerical differentiation, signal to noise rationcalculation, and etc. Result output includes the source spectral diagram output, and resultreport output in Word format. This software has the features of friendly interface, flexible andconvenient, easy handling, high fault tolerance, and etc.Finally, the source parameters of61earthquake(1.7≤M L≤4.8) happened in Shaanxiarea between July,1997and February,2001. And the result is consistent with that of the fore-learners’on the whole, which testifies that the correctness of the software.
