The application of GPS in the field of precision engineering measurement is more and more widely. The precision of the GPS observation is expected to become more and more higher. Associated with high precision requirement is the precision processing of various kinds of error and observed data which related to the GPS This paper takes shen yang GPS baseline field as an example, explores the content of GPS measurement technology in the medium and short baseline field resurvey, mean while we research the methods of surveying the ultra-short baseline field with total station and GPS, And compared the result between GPS and total station. This paper has certain reference significance for GPS baseline field Surveying. In this paper, the main research contents and the conclusions are as follows:(1) Research the time and the coordinate system and the error of precise positioning of satellites, then we research the way of how to eliminate the error. Finally we use GAMIT and COSA to process the date(2) We survey the medium and short baseline field with GPS, then process the date with GAMIT and COSA, Finally we obtained the results which meet the requirements(3) Surveying the ultra-short baseline field with GPS and high precision total station. Then process the GPS data with GAMIT and COSA, we Process the total station’s data, mainly we do the correction of additive and multiplication constants and the meteorological. At last we compared the baseline-length of the two methods. We concluded that the two methods have considerable precision in the ultra-short base-line field measurements.
