With the rapid development of modern information technology, the development of the expression of geographic information from2D to3D experiences a great leap and generates the corresponding three-dimensional symbols in the virtual3D space.3D symbol is a special kind of map graphic language, and it in a more realistic form provides the observer more spatial information, such as the appearance of geographical elements, location, attitude and the distribution and variation characteristics of geographical phenomenon.3D symbol is the expression of spatial geographic information and on the basis of two-dimensional symbol, it has been further perfect and breaks through the limitations of traditional applications of the map symbol, realizes the visualization of three-dimensional geographic elements and promotes cartography researches in the field of urban planning, land use, etc.Three-dimensional road scene construction is an important part of the digital urban three-dimensional modeling. In this paper, by analyzing the domestic and foreign research progress of three-dimensional symbols and its existing problems and deficiencies, relying on the open source3D graphics rendering engine OSG (Open Scene Graph) and the integrated use of computer graphics, computer visualization and dynamic scheduling for database technology, the feasibility plan of quick urban road scene construction based on three-dimensional symbols has been proposed, which has settled the problem of covering in the case of multi-road crossing in the three-dimensional road scene and realized the self-adaptive matching of road&topography. Basic roads, road intersections, and ancillary road facilities all adopt the symbolized automatic modeling without manual intervention, which is of certain research significance and practical values that makes a beneficial attempt for3D symbol in mass data modeling stage in the future.
