Gaoerqi deposit is a representative zinc-silver polymetallic deposit in the northern area of Abaga which is an important part of Erlian-Dongwuzhumuqinqi metallogenic belt. Based on the field work, trenching and drilling, we have researched the geological features and ore-forming process of Gaoerqi deposit by analyzing petrologic, mineralogical features and S-Pb isotope.Gaoerqi zinc-silver ore body occurred as dike, lens type. And the wall rock is metasandstone of the Niqiuhe Formation of Lower Devonian and porphyritic medium-granule-orthoclase-granite of Carboniferous period. Five kinds of ore types are classified, i.e., vein-stockwork structure ore, massive-compact structure ore, breccia ore, banded ore and disseminated ore. Metallic minerals include zinc, galena, pyrite, marcasite, pyrolusite and a small number of chalcopyrite and argentite are contained. Silicification, carbonatation, chloritization, epidotization and kaolinization are distribute from intrazone to extrazone. Gaoerqi zinc-sliver deposit was formed in two mineralizing periods including four mineralizing sub-periods. One mineralizing period includes polymetallic sulfide sub-period, quartz-silver rich sulfide sub-period and fluorite-carbonate sub-period. The other mineralizing period is epigenetic period. Ore forming materials originated from metasandstone and monzonitic granite. The deposit is considered as a magmatic-hydrothermal deposit type and formed in Neopaleozoic.
