The northern Liaodong Bay has good prospects for oil-gas exploration.However,the offshore oil-gas exploration and development are full of high risks andhigh investment. The northern Liaodong Bay area has a complicated marineengineering environments influenced by the interaction of sea and river. Prior toexploitation, we should make a survey over the area to avoid geohazards and identifythe appropriate area for engineering. As such, analysis on engineering suitability innorthern Liaodong Bay is necessary.Based on the data of geology and geophysics in northern Liaodong Bay,this papersummarizes the geohazards distribution features and analyzes its negative influenceand then quantified the geohazards based on Analytic Hierarchy Process and fuzzymathematics methods.According to the principles of systematic、objectivity、practicality and dominant, an evaluation model is set up taking seismic intensity、buried paleo-channels、shallow-buried gas、stratum bearing capacity and seabederosion as indexes. In the analysis,the noethern Liaodong Bay is divide into fiverisk-level regions. The evaluation result is consistent with the actual status, whichshows that this method is reasonable and feasible.Most of the study area has good engineering geological condition while the highrisk area lying near the mouth of the river,being subject to the buried paleo-channels、shallow-buried gas and shallow buried gas. We should take extra care for the high riskarea during the construction.
