From Criticism Of Technological Reason To Construction Of Communicative Reason

Every significant progress in human society is inseparable from the influence of science and technology. However, we should also see that science and technology promote the rapid development of human material civilization, at the same time it also brings many social problems such as ecological crisis and so on. In the view of science and technology playing a dual role, the academic world began to research the technological reason and launched a criticism of the technological reason. As the leader of the second generation of Frankfurt, Habermas has his own original opinion to the technological reason. As Habermas put the technological reason thought of Weber and Marcuse for reference and criticism, he realized the across to the technological reason:the construction of communicative reason. Therefore, the study of Habermas which is from criticism of technological reason to construction of communicative reason has an important meaning to make the formation of Habermas communicative reason clear. Meanwhile it also helps us to deepen our comprehensive understanding of the role of science and technology in the social development, as a result, it can create an equal and harmonious human society.This thesis consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction. This part introduces the background and significance of the question which is from criticism of technological reason to construction of communicative reason, and there is a literature review of the domestic and international research results. This part also points out the research method and the innovation of this thesis. The second part:on the analysis of Weber’s rationality and Marcuse criticism of technological reason, this part summarizes the main content of the criticism of technological reason. The third part points out that Habermas criticism of technological reason on the construction of communicative reason value and communicative reason is beyond criticism of technological reason. The forth part:from the perspective of Marx’s practical reason, this part investigates Habermas’s theory of communicative reason, and points out its deficiency, and emphasizes we should insist on Marx’s practical reason in case of creating a harmonious human society. The fifth part is the conclusion:this part introduces the enlightenment in modern society of Habermas technological reason and communicative reason.
