Tectonic position of Dalianzhou iron ore located in the north eastern margin of North China plate, South sag of Taizi river, eastern An-Ben terrain. In the area of the fracture structure mainly for the northeastern and northwestern Faults were the main ore-controlling factors. Dalianzhou iron ore belongs to An-Shan type sedimentary metamorphic iron deposit, where a layered or lay-like structures, grade is low.In this paper, the Dalianzhou iron ore was chosen as the research target, the element analysis, physical phase analysis, rock ore appraisal and mineral processing experiment methods, researching mineral composition and occurrence, the chemical composition and mineral content phase analysis, and further define the structure and size of the ore characteristics, Through the above process mineralogical study of the guidance come to the conclusion, choose reasonable beneficiation process, finally choose out iron concentrate that the grade achieves the production index.Through the process mineralogy study indicated that chemical composition of Dalianzhou iron ore is simple, high Si, poor Fe, Mg, Al, Low harmful impurities of S and P, mainly for the granular crystal structure and banded structure,and Dalianzhou iron ore belongs to fine grain not uniform type ore. Grain size analysis shows that iron ore mainly distributed in particle size21to147μm, Magnetite average particle size45.17μm, the Quartz average particle size48.02μm. Mineral grain size is not uniform, Therefore, this iron ore needs to strengthen the grinding process.The result of process mineralogy research has shown that Dalianzhou iron ore belongs to the magnetite which hard to grind but easy to beneficiate. And the embedded grains are fine. Additionally, there is a wide disparity of hardness among the minerals. So it’s very easy to lead to over-grinding. Based on the process mineralogy research, final technology process is multistage grinding and multistage magnetic separation. This experiment use multistage separation technology by single variable separation, In the conditions of the coarse grinding fineness62.78%(0.074mm), the second stage of grinding fineness90.07%(0.045mm), and third stage of grinding fineness89.42%(0.045mm), the yield of final iron concentrate is28.44%, and its grade and recovery are65.5%and72.20%respectively through three stages of magnetic separation.This paper based on the process mineralogical study, then begin to the grinding technology and magnetic separation optimization research. Multistage grinding and multistage magnetic separation better adapted to the Dalianzhou iron ore which is low grade, fine granularity and poor quality of process mineralogy characteristics.
