With the rapid development of geographic information system (GIS), there has been increasing attention to the research of Voronoi diagram in the field of GIS. Voronoi diagram is mainly used to describe the relationship between spatial proximity, to achieve the task of spatial proximity operation and spatial interpolation in GIS, also to focus on buffer analysis, construction of polygon and capturing breakpoint. Although Voronoi diagram has made some achievements in theory, the results of these researches are mainly based on the theoretical terms. Therefore, there are mainly two problems to combine Voronoi diagram and GIS:(1) the methods of generating Voronoi diagram in current mostly focus on the normal points, however, the location information of point feature is not enough, which is essential in the construction of models;(2) in practical, if there are limits in Voronoi diagram weighted by point feature, as we know the object is combined by point, line and polygon, then it is trend to generate Voronoi diagram with the feature of line and polygon in the future.In order to solve the above problems, and to expand the application of Voronoi diagram, we analyze the exiting generation algorithm of Voronoi diagram based on conventional point element and simple line element. And we purpose a generation algorithm framework of weighted Voronoi diagram which can produce kinds of generators. Base on ArcObjects as software development platform, with C#as programming language, we develop a set of algorithm program of weighted Voronoi diagram. The characteristics of this algorithm program are as following:(1) it can form Voronoi diagram after setting the target,(2) it can focus on various of generators such as point, line and polygon to form Voronoi diagram,(3) the algorithm finally generates Add-in plugins, and directly plug into ArcMap (or similar GIS software).Development of weighted Voronoi diagram can satisfy the needs of the research of spatial analysis, and provide the convenient spatial analysis tool to geoscience researchers. Also it can expand the GIS spatial analysis technology in the application of many industries in land, forestry, transportation and water, promote the popularity of GIS technology, and accelerate the development of GIS technology.
