With the rapid development of science and technology, the application of high pressure water jet technology is becoming more and more widely. However, the abrasive amount of abrasive suspension jet cutting machine on-line monitoring problem has not been able to get a good solution. Based on the analysis of the deficiencies of current detection method of abrasive volume, combining with the special condition of abrasive suspension jet cutting machine’s double vessel feeding system of abrasive vessel, selected feasible abrasive monitoring plan, analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme, confirmed the scheme that to stick ultrasonic probe on the wall by detecting the signal from reflecting plate to monitoring abrasive volume in vessel is feasible. This work is part of the ―Research and development of the precision ASJ cutting system‖ supported by the Cooperative Research Innovation Fund Project of Jiangsu Province(BY2013019-01).Theoretically analyzed the ultrasonic signal in the transmission characteristics of liquid-solid two-phase flow and the attenuation mechanism, acoustic wave’s scattering and absorption principle, the principle of ultrasonic scattering attenuation and absorption, which provides a theoretical basis to inverse concentration by propagation and characteristics attenuation of ultrasonic.Given the abrasive and water interface of high pressure abrasive vessel in the process of loading is not stable, and the disturbance is acute, judging there will surely be a big error when using ultrasonic to detect abrasive volume. So ultrasonic signal has been studied in detail in the transmission characteristics of liquid-solid two-phase flow with attenuation mechanism, by designing the experiment, studied the abrasive concentration on the influence of ultrasonic attenuation and velocity of sound, using the software Origin to analyze data and fit formula, determined the concentration detection models of abrasive mixture, and the accuracy of the model has been verified.Using this model, on-line monitoring loading and unloading process of high pressure abrasive vessel, measured abrasive concentration distribution above the interface, provides the reliable theory basis for the system optimization design of ultrasonic on-line detection abrasive volume of high pressure abrasive vessel.
