Taking the landslide of Eagle Valley in Lianjiang Town, Mingshan District, Ya’an City as the study object, this paper discusses the geological environmental conditions of Eagle Valley landslide and its basic characteristics based on the survey methods like engineering measurement, geological mapping, drilling, mountain engineering, laboratory test, etc. Besides, on the basis of reformation features and histories of landslide, the paper makes a systematic analysis and macroscopic judgment upon formation conditions of the Eagle Valley landslide and then analyses its deformation mechanism both qualitatively and quantitatively. Finally, after a comprehensive evaluation of the stability of Eagle Valley landslide, the research puts forward some corresponding engineering measures. Below are the research details and results:(1) Through a topographic measurement at 1:500 scale and a typical profile measurement, the engineering geological mapping work upon the landslide and surrounding areas is carried out. Then the research adopts drilling, exploration and trench survey methods to ascertain the landform and geological background like formation lithology and geological structure of the study area.(2) Through an analysis of the landslide’s rock and soil structure, the research makes statistics on physics mechanics parameters of the rock and soil and proposes reasonable basis for the parameters value. After that, it analyses the deformation characteristics of the landslide and evaluates its stability.(3) Adopting limit equilibrium method, the research calculates, analyses and evaluates the stability of the landslide in natural, stormy and seismic circumstances. Results show that the Eagle Valley landslide is almost stable in natural circumstances, understable with some instable parts when rainstorm occurs and being in-between during earthquake.(4) Based on the evaluation results on deformation characteristics and stability of Eagle Valley landslide, the research in the end proposes a comprehensive treatment measure, which is "anti-slide pile+ drain interception+crack filling".
