Remote sensing is an integrated technology of space exploration. As a combination of remote sensing technology and geological sciences, geological remote sensing have A series of advantages in terms of geological research and mineral exploration, such as having a wide range, time-sensitive, low cost. Nowadays, mineral resources is high demanded, searching massive mineral resources using remote sensing is an advanced and essential way, and that has become the most of geologists’ favor.In ASTER data, there are five bands in active short-wave infrared range which reflects the mineral alteration. In this paper, Pobei area in Xinjiang province were chosen as the study area. The alteration minerals and construction information has extracted in the area using ASTER data. In addition thermal infrared bands which involved in ASTER were be used for inverse the content of silica and magnesia. Then we carried out the field verification work to verify these outcomes. The main results are as follows:1. Through the use of five kinds of image enhancement technology, respectively, the ratio method, principal component analysis, the ratio of the main components of a combination of methods, spectral angle mapping method and S-A fractal filtering, the alteration anomaly information including iron staining, aluminum hydroxy, hydroxyl and magnesium carbonate were extracted in the study area. A comparison among these five information extraction methods has been taken from the operation and the distribution of altered information.And their advantages and disadvantages have been summarized. By using color composite, the main component transformation, filtering and other image enhancement technology, texture analysis combining,interpretation work completed linear structure and ring structure in the study area, 21 breaks,45 diabase and 19 annular structure were interpreted.2. Using the results of previous research, the content of silica and magnesia was inversed in the study area, and the acid rock and mafic rocks in the study area has been grasped.3. Eventually,combined with the existing geological data and integrated the above, this paper has summarized the remote sensing prospecting model of copper-nickel sulfide deposits from ore- controlling conditions of deposit, imaging characteristics associated with abnormal mineralization alteration, prospecting signs.
