Land surface temperature is an important parameter in earth sciences.Land surface temperature is also an important parameter in the surface physical process of regional and global scale. Land surface temperature has a characteristics of temporal and variation. The traditional method is based on observation of meteorologicalstations is difficult to obtain land surface temperature of the entire region. This method cannot be grasped from the macro. With the development of remote sensing technology, the using of remote sensing technology to study the land surface temperature becomes a hot problem.Application of thermal infrared remote sensing is simple and high precision in research of land surface temperature.Land use /cover change is an important research area of global change and it can indicate the environmental change. With the improvement of socio-economic level and the strengthen of people’s ability to transform the environment, use/cover and the environment has great changes. The change of land cover typeswill affect the level of surface temperature. Sothe explorationof the relationship between surface temperature and land cover types is significant.Based on the analysis of the study area in paper, I selected several areas of Tianjin as research subjects. There are two parts in research. Firstly, I introduced several surface temperature retrieval methods. This paper selects the radiant transfer method of land surface temperature and introduces the important parameters in retrieval progress. These parameters include atmospheric transmittance, atmospheric upwelling and downwelling radiances. The method of brightness temperature as the surface of the real temperature has some errors. In this paper, I calculate the surface emissivity and use Planck inverse functionto calculate a real surface temperature. I analyze the temporal and spatial variation of land surface temperature. Secondly, I have studied the relationship between surface temperature and land cover types. On the one hand, I have studied the relationship between surface temperature and the normalized difference vegetation index. On the other hand, I have studied the relationship between specific land cover types and surface temperature. I pointed out that the level of the individual land cover categories of surface temperature. According to the type of land cover conversion chart analysis migrate the impact of land cover types of changes to surface temperatures.
