Debris flow is a kind of serious natural disaster, engineering control is important means to prevent debris flow, debris flow dam is consider to be an important structure of engineering control. This paper popularize and apply the new dam.The debris flow dam designing program was developed with the tech-nology of Redevelopment of ANSYS, it can design gravity dam. Using UIDL design menu, Tcl/Tk draw input interface, APDL edit core algorithm. Dam’s anti-slip stability coefficient and anti-overturning stability coeffi-cient are calculated in general condition, Impact condition and seismic condition. Using MATLAB, the same function software was written to ob-tain the analytical solution which is used to compare with the finite element solution.The calculation method of debris flow was investigated, some of it were chosen and improved for gabion dam and concrete filled steel tubular pile. The software was built that can design the debris dam and can runs on Windows. The software can calculate stability coefficient and stress on foundation, automatically judge whether it meet the requirement. The ap-plication can dynamic display the dam with the change of input, it’s very visual. When the calculation was finished, the user can save the appropriate data in the format of CSV or Excel. And then the draw is automatically generated. Studying team research and development many type of dam, so the software is object-oriented for extend more type of dam.Build gabion dam demonstration project, engineering situation, the design method were written. Design scheme to monitor the dam.Explore the building method for debris flow dam software. The results of the software are accurate and reliable, the software can improve effi-ciency of designing, has reference value and guiding significance to same development.
